CELEBRATED
Anti-Ragging rally and a legal
awareness campaign on ‘Kerala Prevention of Ragging Act of 1998’ was
held at Thekke Gopura Nada, Thrissur on December 10, 2007. The
precession and the legal awareness campaign was held as a part of
the Human Rights day Celebration. Nearly 100 student
representatives from different colleges took part.
The main aim of the campaign was
to raise voice against the practice of ragging that has been taking
place in various college campuses and hostels throughout the
country. The procession which started at 3.30 p.m. moved through
Swaraj Round, Thrissur, capturing attention of all. After the
procession Adv. George Pulikuthiyil, Executive Director of
Jananeethi, addressed the gathering on the urgent need for actions
against ragging. He also mentioned about the various impacts and
solutions for ragging based on the Supreme Court Order and the
Raghavan Committee Recommendations.
