Reproachable, Condemnable and Disgusting

Benazir Bhutto, Pakistan’s former prime minister and opposition leader  who fought for democracy, is brutally assassinated.

Jananeethi Institute condoles her tragic death and condemns the heinous attack on the most distinguished and courageous  woman of South Asia, who was expected to restore democracy in Pakistan.

Ms. Bhutto was the appealing and glamorous face of Pakistan - a trailblazing feminist, the first woman to lead a Muslim nation in modern times. She was a masterful politician who knew what the people of her country wanted. Beautiful, charismatic and articulate, she was a dangerous opponent for the military government

“I didn’t choose this life; it chose me”, she wrote in one of her memoirs. Her horrendous murder indicates Pakistan has a long way to go before democracy becomes the order of the day.

To mark our homage to the slain democratic leader, who described herself ‘the daughter of the East’, the 15th lecture on “ Challenges to Democracy” to be delivered on this day, the 28th December 2007,  by Shri. V.M. Sudheeran stands cancelled.

The program is scheduled to be held on 31st  Dec. 2007,
3.00 pm, at Sahitya Academy Auditorium, Thrissur.
